new graduate-ish

Here are the highlights of yesterday's graduation festivities.

1. Family from out of town came down to celebrate with me. Thanks to Barb, Bernie, Grandma Helen, Grandma and Grandpa Hickerson, Vam Vam, and Aunt Glenna for making the trip!

2. I wore spanx, tights, and high heels for the occasion.

3. We ate entirely too much food at the Granite City brunch buffet. (Second day in a row to eat a buffet. Never. Ever. Again.)

4. Thoroughly regretting the spanx decision.

5. Stood in line for an hour with my bestie, Erin, and began to regret the heels decision.

6. Felt light-headed as we walked into the arena. I'm pretty sure this was more from the spanx and less from the excitement of what was going on. Exciting though it was.

7. After scouring the commencement program for my name and wondering whether or not I submitted it for graduation, I discovered that I was graduating cum laude. Who knew?

8. Sat for 2 hours and listened to someone talk about sexual orientation and iPods. I'll make sure to file those away in my Never-Need-to-Know-for-the-Future file.

9. Considered what would happen if I did faint and the EMTs discovered my spanx now cutting off my air supply.

10. Why didn't I bring a knife to free myself from these things?

11. Stood up and headed towards the stage. Is this really happening? Finally?!

12. Thought of how much of a baby I've been to my parents and husband for the past 2 years and smiled nice big for them.

13. Shook hands with WSU's president who liked my earrings.

14. High fived my BF like a 3rd grader

15. Didn't fall OR faint.

16. Felt great and then remembered I still have a huge final on Tuesday.

17. Agh.

18. At least I was cum laude.
