Oktoberfestivities

I can't describe what FUN it is to have great Catholic friends who have great Catholic families and all go to our parish. This weekend was our annual Oktoberfest at Blessed Sacrament. A fundraiser for the Men's Club, an authentic (and if not authentic, certainly delicious!) German meal is served plus beer beer and more beer. There are all sorts of rides for the kids to go on and they hired a live band to play for the event. I mostly spent the evening running after Max who loved watching other kids and dancing to the music but in the times when Kelby was on Max duty, I got to just soak up the awesomeness of being a part of such a dynamic community.

Girls are everywhere. Can't keep em away!

We take care of each other around here.

At least his shirt matched the color of his snow cone.

See what I mean about the ladies?

By the end of the night, Max was so tired but so wound up that I had to strap him into the wagon to keep him down. He went through phases of laughing loudly so that people would look at him to screaming to get out. He was a down right dirt ball by the time we left. He kept losing one of his shoes and the front part of his onesie kept coming out of his shirt. We were channeling the Joe Dirt look.

In other news, I completed my second 5k yesterday morning. The race was called Rosstoberfest which raises money for Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. A teen from Blessed Sacrament, in Annie's class, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and this is the fourth year of the race for Ross. There were over 900 runners going through College Hill. It was a perfect day and I tried to act like I didn't mind running by myself. (I'm so spoiled and get to go with Anne each time.) On the plus side though, I finished 196th at 26:18 with a 8:29/mile pace. Who knew? All that is pretty lame though when you consider my sister will be running in a half marathon at the end of this month in St. Louis! I'll leave the 13.3 mile races to you, Mel.

And all that under the title of Oktoberfest...
De nada.
