Allergy

I was at my wits' end.

Max had a major break out; his face and entire body were bright red, bumpy, and itchy. He screamed like a little possessed imp when I held his arms down to keep him from scratching.

I had given him some cottage cheese which he gobbled up happily with no splotchiness to note.

Until 3 hours later.

You may think that I don't learn lessons very well.

Um...Hello? I thought that happened when you gave him ice cream? Didn't he break out with yogurt?

Ok you're right. It's just that I was hoping that I'd been a little premature in introducing those things to him. Turns out he's not getting over this. It looks like I've got a baby with a cow's milk allergy. Wonderful!

The truth is that I'm glad that I've finally just said it out loud and gotten the confirmationi from my doctor so I can move forward. I bought soy milk today (which made me gag a little) and watched him gulp, gulp, gulp it down. I'd gladly take any suggestions on recipes to try with this new, mysterious ingredient I'll be using.

I must apologize for the lack of pictures lately. Max is so quick and on the move constantly that I focus all my energy keeping up with him and have kind of forgotten about camera. Tonight we were at my parents' house and before I knew it, Max was all the way up the first flight of stairs and giggling as he rounded the bend for the second set. Part of me wanted to snatch him up and forbid him from growing anymore but the other part of me felt the warmth that spreads in your heart as you watch your child learning and enjoying the little things in life.

In other news, Max's dental zone has welcomed it's 8th member. He's a regular human now - chomping on cheerios, graham crackers, and baby biscuits.

Max's usual go-to entertainment.

Normally he's at the keys pounding away.

He's actually a pretty big fan of this type of confinement.
