domestic adventuras

I'd just like to start this post with a shout out and shout at to my dear friend Adrienne who has gotten me into this whole happy mess!

well not exactly...

It all started with a giant list of exactly how I was going to spring clean my house. "Clean Cabinets" found its way onto the list and Adrienne just off-handedly mentioned exclaimed that cleaning them now would mean they would be easier to take down and paint. I think this is where my story takes some fictional turns. In my story, Adrienne forces me to get Kelby's drill and remove all my upper cabinet doors.
Then she leaves me amidst my housal disaster to go to the hardware store for my lazy hide have bon bons and wine (as all stay-at-home moms do). Right after she left, I was so busy hopping working extremely hard that I fell up down the stairs over my husband's shoes and heard my ankle pop thrice. After laying down and sobbing for my mommy sucking it up, I got right back to work. Adrienne eventually showed up and we started priming my cabinet doors. At this point, I'm dealing with a throbbing ankle and painter's remorse and Adrienne remains her happy-DIY-cheerleeder self.

By the time Kelby came home from work, I was quite overwhelmed with the project I jumped into was forced into. I cried that I was so stressed out by the mess and how was he not freaking out from it?! Without even a second's thought he said, "Well honestly, I've gotten used to it." That didn't cause any kind of major outburst on my part whatsoever.
...ish...

To his credit, he did some painting for me as I put Max to bed and then indulged my whinings for the rest of the night.

My dear Adrienne arrived bright and early this manana to set right in to work. Our babies took their naps a little earlier and longer than usual but they were super troopers. After a night's sleep I was a little more optimistic. Luckily, our friend Emily showed up to save the day as the babies woke up.

The little troopers

Then another angel from heaven came in the form of Mary P., interior decorator and friend extraordinaire. Mary wasted no time in picking up a roller and further setting my mind at ease about the impromtu project. Here's what we accomplished today.
In all honesty, I'm sooooo grateful to Adrienne for helping me and going along with my whim! Two impulsive people can get a LOT accomplished!

Your house next, Adrienne.

Since I just love attention, I showed anyone who asked (or didn't) my nasty ankle. I showed the bad one first and then the healthy one with a little "I don't naturally have kankles" quip. Then Kelby took a picture of my injury after which he said, "I don't see much of a difference." Apparently I'm on the verge of legitimate kanklehood. I have GOT to join Weight Watchers.

Kankles, here I come!

The paint is not part of the injury but those bruises are.
To conclude this mini-saga I just have to say that I plan to hire someone to come finish the bottom half of my project. This is exHAUSTing. But as Kelby put it, "It makes things a little more exciting around here."

I didn't realize we were bereft of excitement.

Thanks for listening and I'll keep you posted as we get more done.

Ciao!

  1. Ah, sometimes us SAHMs need a little more drama than sipping wine in the afternoons while munching on bonbons. Also, you need to show the kitchen in the daylight, to show the dramatic effect of the light filling your freshly painted alabaster cabinets.

  2. Oh Christine, that poor ankle of yours! I feel so guilty here.. I was literally scrolling through a slideshow of your rough day & laughing! (But I know you had a good laugh too so I don't feel SO bad)! ..... This makes me want to paint my cabinets now. Thanks.
