Creativity Abounds

As I was putting Max to sleep and begging God to have mercy on me justthisonenight, I started thinking up inventions that I could design to help him sleep through the night. Among them were a squishy baby-size body pillow that holds the "shape"-- if you can really call flubber a shape -- of my arm and general cradling area, a lifting chair -- which is actually already invented for the elderly but that I've been coveting for the past 6 months -- that will elevate my rear end so that I don't have to disturb the perfect hold I've got in order to hoist myself out of the overstuffed rocking chair, and some type of device that strokes his back to give the allusion of an ever-present mother. Mind you, all of these products would be baby safe somehow.

You may be thinking that this sounds like I don't like spending time rocking, cradling, stroking, nursing, or singing to my baby but that's not it at alllll. I think I could take care of him so so so so so much better if I could just sleep for a mere 6 solid hours!

Max, when you read this in... ok maybe you'll never read this...but, if you read this when you're older, please know that you were the sweetest smile bug who loved to laugh and sing and talk and growl and the only complaint I could ever come up with was your desire to be with me all the time and frustration when you realized you'd been duped into sleeping again. I don't have it bad at all. You're the most perfect baby for this Mommy, Little Love. I'll see you in a few hours.

  1. Have you tried a bottle right before bed? Jack drinks a cup of milk while we read right before bed. Full tummy = 12 hours of sleep! or, have you tried cry it out. If he gets up in the night, let him soothe himself back to sleep. It works!- 2 nights of tears for us and bam...all of a sudden he was sleeping 12-14 hrs!
