12 hour read

Thus I spent my day and didn't find a thing wrong with it. It's been a while since I've really just snuggled up with my Maxi and happily accepted an unproductive day.

The Art of Mending was really great! Since I'm no good at summarizing books or critiquing them with style, I'll just say that this novel speaks well to women and of women and their varied relationships. What was really refreshing was that I didn't feel like I had to ward off the "Little Bit of Poop in the Brownies" Scenario at all either! Not that it's a book for children or really even teenagers, but I didn't find myself having to ignore giant parts of it for being offensive.

This book (only 237 pages long, started at 9 a.m. and ended at 9 p.m.) definitely has my seal of approval.

*Little Bit of Poop in the Brownies Scenario: If there's poop in the brownies you may not be able to taste it but it's still there. Apply that same thought to literature, films, music, etc. Essentially, it's the idea that you shouldn't want to see/read/listen to anything that has or promotes something offensive. I can't remember if it was my parents or some other wise adult who used that one on me as a rebel child but either way, I think it gets the message across.
