play date: month 5 version

Pre-Max, I'd find it so hilarious when I'd hear moms of barely-holding-up-their-heads-babies say to other moms of rarely-awake babies, "Let's do a play date." On the motherhood side of things, what's really being said is, "I could use a dose of adult conversation and company to regain my sanity sometime." These play dates generally end up with the moms nursing, rocking, bouncing, or--on the off chance that each baby is awake at the same time--trying to get them to smile (or just open their eyes) in a side-by-side picture together. In my own infinitely enlightened experience as a mother, I've found that spending time like this with other moms/families is refreshing!

Last weekend, Kelby and I took Max over to the Brunke's house for a "play date" and some all around fun time. The Brunke's are our favorite family and a.l.w.a.y.s spoil us with a delicious dinner when we go over there. Madi is almost 3, Isaac is 20 months, and Gabe is 2 and a half months. Max is nearing the age where he could be fun to play with if you catch him at a good time so I can see some true-to-their-name play dates on the horizon. Here are some pictures from our good old time with J.P. and Audge and their kids last Sunday.
Gabe and Max "playing"

First time in a real swing!

Madi is such a good little helper!

Kelby got a chance to talk man talk with JP in the shop and Audge and I caught up and kept the kids under control. She's totally my role model with those 3 kids!  I'm a wee overwhelmed and I've only got one! I guess God just gives you what you need to be able to take care of his little gifts.
